William Plumptre during the last two decades has become an outstanding English potter working in the distinguished Anglo-Japanese tradition founded in the early twentieth century by the great friends Shoji Hamada and Bernard Leach and also the late Tatsuzo Shimaoka

Working with a mixture of two clays, William uses a variety of wood ash glazes and fires his pots in a kiln manufactured to his own specification.

His work has been shown at a wide variety of both solo and joint exhibitions, all over the world, and special commissions have been requested by the The Royal Bank of Scotland & BNP Paribas.

One of Williams's pieces was presented to President Chirac by HRH The Queen.

William has just returned from Japan having spent seven weeks making pots in the workshop of Tatsuzo Shimaoka  in order to contribute to a exhibition in his memory, next year in Japan.
